Compost odours detected at the screening pad and screening area only. No odours detected at Checkpoints 1 and 2.
Compost odour had been previously noted at 8:00 a.m. at Checkpoint 4 by secondary odour check, but was not present during this investigation.
Note: Claystone hosted two sets of facility tours on October 15 between 10 am and 11:30 a.m., which included local residents. During tour, participants experienced delivery of organics to the compost pad, the aerated compost static piles, the active landfill site, and the Ryley Sewage Lagoon. Participants noted that the municipal solid waste (MSW) odours at the landfill were consistent with the odours most often experienced in the village, with occasional lagoon and compost odour.
*Municipal solid waste (MSW) is the everyday waste discarded by the public.
