Rural Collections

Not in a town or village? No problem. We know that most of central Alberta was built by people living and working remotely, and we can easily accommodate your waste collection needs no matter where you are.

One large four cubic yards (three cubic metres) bin can easily handle the average household’s monthly waste. We’ll drop the bin off and then make monthly collections thereafter.

Of course, if you require more large-scale needs, additional bins or pickups can easily be accommodated.

We are flexible and committed to delivering service tailored exactly to you.

Waste Bin Information

There is a monthly fee for waste bins, which we invoice every two months. Please see the chart below for current rates.

You can choose to have your credit card left on file for these payments, pay by e-transfer, or you can set up online banking.

For payment by e-transfer, please use the email ar@claystonewaste.com.  Include in the memo the invoice number and the account name.

There is a bin placement fee for Claystone to deliver the bin to your location.  Please see the chart below for current rates.

The bin will need to be close to the road in an area free of trees and anything else that might interfere with our ability to access and lift the bin.

Bins should be located outside of any fenced-off areas and easily accessible by our equipment.  This also reduces the potential of damage to your private roadways.

Bins must remain in the spot approved by Claystone. Any bins moved by the customer without Claystone approval may be subject to a fee to return the bin to the approved site. The customer will also be responsible for any damages caused by moving the bin.

The monthly bin rental fee includes one scheduled tip per month per the schedule posted on this page. Note that the schedule is subject to change (e.g. inclement weather, road conditions, mechanical issues). We will post schedule changes on this page and on our Facebook page.

Note: A scheduled tip is a tip that occurs as part of our regularly scheduled route when our equipment attends the site, even if the bin is not tipped.

Your bin will not be tipped if any of the following conditions exist:

  • Bin includes non-household waste items
  • Items are stacked around/against the bin
  • Bin is overfilled and lid cannot close properly or bin is too heavy to lift
  • Bin is not accessible by our equipment

Bins not tipped due to these conditions will need to be fixed before Claystone will return to empty the bin.

The bin will be tipped on the next scheduled date for that route. If the bin needs to be tipped sooner, an Additional Bin Tip Request must be submitted using the online form on our website. Note that the Additional Bin Tip fee will apply.

You will need to complete an Additional Bin Tip Request Form located on this page if you require an additional bin tip.

The form should also be used to request an additional tip if your bin was not tipped due to excess weight, overfilled, inaccessible by our equipment, or other conditions as noted on this page.

Note there is an additional charge for extra tips.

Complete the form on this page if your bin was missed and there were no issues with the bin contents, location, or other conditions as noted on this page.

Before submitting the form, check the collection schedule below for any notices of delays due to weather, road conditions, or equipment issues. If there aren’t any notices, then let us know about your missed bin and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Keep area around the bin clear. Our trucks cannot access bins that have Items stacked around or up against the bin.

Ensure household waste is put into bags to help prevent odours and keep pests out of the bins.

Remove hazards around the bin including low-hanging tree branches. Branches in particular can get caught up in our equipment causing damage and delays.

Keep bin clear of snow.

Avoid overloading the bins. If filled with heavy items, our truck will not be able to lift the bin and your bin will not be emptied until you have removed items to reduce the weight.

Pricing

Rural bin rentals will be increasing from $30/month to $39/month effective January 1, 2026. This is the first increase in bin rental rates in over 20 years, despite the significant increases to operational costs, including fuel, equipment, and maintenance.

What We Accept In Rural Bins

Please ensure your only put accepted items in your bins to ensure it will be tipped as part of our regular schedule.

Claystone will not tip bins that contain non-household waste, have items stacked around or against them, are overfilled and lid cannot close properly or are too heavy to lift, or the bin is not accessible by our equipment.

If the bin is not tipped due to these conditions, they will need to be fixed before Claystone will return to empty the bin. The bin will be tipped on the next scheduled date for that route. If the bin needs to be tipped earlier, an Additional Bin Tip Request will need to be completed and the Additional Bin Tip Fee will apply.
