What Can Go in Urban Collection Bins?
Bins should not be loaded with excessive weight. If filled with heavy items, the bin can be too heavy for our trucks to lift. Items such as concrete, shingles, etc., should NOT be placed in residential bins.
Accepted Items
Bagged Household Garbage
- Household garbage should be placed in tied bags to keep it contained and reduce scavengers
Lawn Clippings / Hedge Trimmings
Scrap Wood
Dry Waste
- Dry waste should be broken into pieces (i.e., boards no longer than 3 feet or 96cm in length) in order for our truck compaction equipment to safely handle it.
Not Accepted
Concrete, Bricks, Shingles, etc.
Hot or Cold Ashes
Tires, Auto Bodies, Iron/Steel Products, Batteries
Household Appliances
Grease
Animal Carcasses
Large Amounts of Loose Wire
Liquid Waste (e.g., Water, Gasoline, Oil, etc.)
Household Hazardous Waste (e.g., Products containing corrosive, toxic, flammable, or otherwise reactive ingredients – see our Household Hazardous Waste page for more details)
