BEAVER COUNTY, Alberta – On October 1, 2024, Claystone Waste Ltd., a western Canadian waste management leader, welcomed Matt Rawluk as the new Chief Operating Officer. Rawluk filled the vacancy left by Corey Popick when he took on the role of Chief Executive Officer on December 1, 2023.
“We’re excited to have Matt as part of the Claystone team,” said Popick. “Matt has a diverse and impressive resume, and his skillset is exactly what we were looking for with this key role in our organization. Managing Claystone operations is a daunting task, and Matt’s leadership and his commitment to his colleagues, customer service, and the environment stood out as they align with our organizational values.”
Born and raised in Alberta, Rawluk has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Alberta. His experience includes waste management, construction, oil and gas, heavy transportation, and mining sectors. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to health and safety, strategic thinking integrated with business plan execution, and focus on innovative problem solving, skills that made him an attractive candidate for the role of Chief Operating Officer.
“I am very excited to be part of the Claystone team,” said Rawluk. “Responsible handling of waste is vital to maintain public sanitation and resource management where we can create the best possible world we can for future generations. Waste management impacts everyone’s lives and Claystone is an industry leader when it comes to our vision, values, and commitment to community. As the incoming COO, I am excited to lead a dedicated team focused on realizing Claystone’s vision. With the strong guidance of our Board of Directors, we remain committed to delivering value to our shareholders while also actively supporting the Alberta communities in which we operate.”
