August 26, 2025, Beaver County, Alberta – Claystone Waste is excited to announce the launch of a new and improved Community Grant Program. Available to any not-for-profit located in Tofield, Viking, Ryley, Holden, or Beaver County, this grant program helps fund a variety of initiatives from events, programs, supplies, or other activities that benefit the community.
The updated program includes new grant funding categories:
- Program and Event Grant, which provides funding for projects, programs, or events, including annual requests (e.g. FCSS Christmas Hampers)
- General Operating Grant, which provides funding to help offset an organization’s operating expenses.
- Capital Grant, which provides funding for capital improvements including purchases of equipment and minor renovation projects.
“One of Claystone’s core values is about how we are rooted in community, and that includes supporting local groups that make a difference in the lives of residents of the Beaver County region,” said Corey Popick, chief executive officer. “Although it took us some time to review and get the new program ready for implementation, we are confident that the new categories and process will make it much easier for groups – often run by volunteers – to apply for grant funding.”
In addition to the three monetary grant categories, Claystone has added a fourth category: In-Kind Grant. This new category will capture requests for donation of time or materials that has a monetary value but does not require funding.
“We receive a lot of requests for donations, including door prizes and auction items for community events,” said Popick. “We have also seen an increase in requests for us to donate our finished compost, including for community garden projects and to sell as a fundraising initiative. By creating this new category, we are better able to track and fulfil these requests.”
Claystone will start accepting applications under the new program starting September 1 until October 31 for this year only. In-Kind Grants will be accepted at any time and will be reviewed upon receipt. The regular intake period for applications will resume in 2026.
