This year, Claystone is helping residents answer the question of “what do I do with my pumpkin after Halloween?”
Rather than putting it in with other household garbage, starting November 1, Claystone will have a special bin set up in at the Ryley Transfer Station at the landfill specifically for pumpkins. The pumpkins will then become feedstock for the compost facility.
In exchange for dropping off your pumpkins, residents can ask for a package of pumpkin seeds from the Scale House attendants. Choose from two varieties of seeds:
- Giant pumpkin seeds that were used for the 2025 Giant Pumpkin Contest
- Warty Gnome seeds, which are a smaller, fun pumpkin
“Although we haven’t made it official, it is quite likely that we will run the Giant Pumpkin Contest in 2026,” said Corey Popick, Chief Executive Officer. “By handing out the seeds now, people can start their plants early so they are ready for planting next spring.”
The pumpkin collection bin will be set up starting November 1 until November 8. One package of pumpkin seeds per resident while quantities last.
