When Claystone received the grant application for a library program that Dolly Parton initiated herself, how could we say no?
In 2023, the Town of Tofield Library became an affiliate of The Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Through this program, children up to five years of age receive a book each month to help achieve a simple yet profound goal: to foster a love of reading from an early age and ultimately enhance literacy skills.
As described in the grant application, through the program, each child builds a personal library of up to 60 books—each one a new adventure, a new lesson, a new friend. The joy and excitement of receiving a book in the mail every month can ignite a lifelong passion for reading.
The cost of the program is $50 per child per year, which covers the book, mailing, and administrative expenses. However, this cost is covered by the library for children within the Tofield Municipal Library’s catchment area. Thanks to the $1,000 grant from Claystone, the library was able to increase enrollment from 59 to 72 children.
Thank you to the Tofield Library for partnering with this amazing program and providing Claystone the opportunity to support through the Community Grant Program.
Claystone is accepting applications for the revised Community Grant Program until midnight on October 31, and will be looking to award grants in November. More information at www.claystonewaste.com/grants.
