A question we often get is, “What exactly is the Good Neighbour Grant, and how does it work?”
Simply put, it is money that Claystone pays every year to the Village of Ryley and Beaver County to support community initiatives and enhance local opportunities, reflecting our dedication to positive community impact and shared growth.
This grant is paid in addition to the dividends that go to all our shareholder municipalities, and is our way of recognizing the important role played by the residents in supporting our operations.
How the grant is funded
The amount of the Good Neighbour Grant is directly related to the amount of waste disposed of at the landfill. The grant is calculated using a rate per tonne formula based on the final audited tonnage from the previous year. This means that the more waste deposited at the landfill, the more the grant will be to the two communities.
How the grant is shared
The grant is split between the Village of Ryley (66.67 per cent) and Beaver County (33.33 per cent).
Where the funding goes
The Good Neighbour Grant is intended to help fund community initiatives and enhance local opportunities for residents most directly connected to Claystone’s operations. The Village of Ryley and Beaver County decide how to use their respective funding based on local needs and priorities. Depending on the year, that can include community projects, improvements to shared spaces, or support for local programs and services.
A commitment our community can count on
The Good Neighbour Grant is a standing commitment under a Limited Partnership Agreement with our municipal partners. We know that strong relationships with our community are built through consistency and transparency. The Good Neighbour Grant is one of the ways we show up, year after year, as a responsible neighbour and a contributing part of this region.
